Miners Back In Action Tonight in Hopkinsville

The Miners (15-18) get back on the diamond tonight in Hopkinsville against the OVL West leading Hoppers (18-13). The game at 7:05pm at Hopkinsville High School.

Trailing the Hoppers by four games with seven games remaining in the regular season, the Miners hope to cut into the Hoppers’ division lead. The Miners and Hoppers will face off four times in the final week of the regular season:

June 12 – @ Hoptown Hoppers

June 13 – @ Henderson Flash

June 14 – Henderson Flash

June 15 – @ Hoptown Hoppers

June 16 – Hoptown Hoppers

June 17 – Paducah Chiefs

June 18 – Hoptown Hoppers


OVL Postseason Tournament Bracket

Media Release: Ohio Valley League Postseason Tournament Bracket

The Ohio Valley League Postseason Tournament First Round will begin on Friday, July 21st and end on Sunday, July 23rd.

The Semi-Final Round will begin on Monday, July 24th and end on Wednesday, July 26th.

There will be a Rainout Day between the Semi-Finals and the Championship Round, which will start on Friday, July 28th and end on Sunday, July 30th. The 31st of July could be used as a rainout day if necessary.

East All Stars Defeat West All Stars 7-6 Sunday Night; Miners Notes

2017 OVL All Star Game Coverage

The Ohio Valley Summer Collegiate Baseball League played its second annual All Star Game on Sunday night, with the East All Stars defeating the West All Stars in walkoff fashion 7-6.

The Dubois County Bombers hosted this year’s edition of the All Star Game, which also included a Home Run Derby and other player skills competitions.

The Miners placed eight players on the 2017 OVL West All Star team:

  • Logan Jarvis
  • Alex Carignan
  • David Robins
  • Ryan Brooks
  • Michael Sebby
  • Jonathan Joy
  • Austin Henrich
  • Alex Canul

Additionally, Brooks Benson participated in the Home Run Derby and finished in Second Place!

Logan Jarvis (0-2) started at First Base for the West All Stars, and Alex Carignan (0-2) got the start at Catcher.  Ryan Brooks (1-2, 2 runs scored) and David Robins (0-1) both saw action as well.

On the mound, Michael Sebby (2 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 BB, 2 K), Jonathan Joy (1 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 1 BB, 0 K), and Alex Canul (0.33 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 0 K) each saw action.

Miners off until July 12

The Miners will enjoy two days of rest before playing seven straight days to wrap up the regular season. The Miners get back in action on Wednesday, July 12, in Hopkinsville against the Hoppers. The Miners’ next home game is Friday, July 14, against the Henderson Flash.

The Hoppers (17-13) and Miners (15-18) are set to face each other four times in the last week of the regular season, with the Miners trailing the Hoppers by 3.5 games in the standings.


Miners Ride Four Game Losing Skid Into All Star Break; Updated Team and Player Stats

July 8 – Paducah Chiefs 11, Madisonville Miners 8 (at Paducah)

The Miners lost to the Chiefs in Paducah on Saturday night by the final score of 11-8. The official game summary and box score is available here: Miners @ Chiefs – July 8

The loss was the fourth straight for the Miners and dropped them into third place in the OVL West standings with a record of 15-18. With the win, Paducah moved into second place in the West Division with a 15-16 record. Hoptown leads the OVL West at 17-13 on the season.

July 7 – Fulton Railroaders 9, Madisonville Miners 8 (at Fulton)

Oilers Defeat Miners 6-2 At Elmer Kelley; Team Notes; Updated Stats

Oilers 6, Miners 2 – July 6

The Oilers (13-17) extended their winning streak to four games with a 6-2 victory of the Miners (15-16) at Elmer Kelley Stadium on Thursday night. The loss was the Miners’ second straight and dropped them three games behind first place Hoptown in the OVL West standings.

Ramsey added to Miners roster

We are thrilled that Nolan Ramsey joined the Miners after completing a summer internship and will be available to designate hit for us the rest of the season. Nolan is a redshirt sophomore at the University of Alabama – Huntsville and hails from New Market, Alabama. Nolan played for the Miners in 2015 and 2016.

Miners in Fulton Friday night

The Miners make their final regular season visit to Lohaus Field in Fulton tonight to face the Railroaders (11-17). If you haven’t been to “The Yard,” it’s worth the trip to see the ballpark and the “Little Monster” in right field. Game time is 7:05pm Central, and the play-by-play broadcast is available in the Railroader’s TEAMLINE page.
