East All Stars Defeat West All Stars 7-6 Sunday Night; Miners Notes

2017 OVL All Star Game Coverage

The Ohio Valley Summer Collegiate Baseball League played its second annual All Star Game on Sunday night, with the East All Stars defeating the West All Stars in walkoff fashion 7-6.

The Dubois County Bombers hosted this year’s edition of the All Star Game, which also included a Home Run Derby and other player skills competitions.

The Miners placed eight players on the 2017 OVL West All Star team:

  • Logan Jarvis
  • Alex Carignan
  • David Robins
  • Ryan Brooks
  • Michael Sebby
  • Jonathan Joy
  • Austin Henrich
  • Alex Canul

Additionally, Brooks Benson participated in the Home Run Derby and finished in Second Place!

Logan Jarvis (0-2) started at First Base for the West All Stars, and Alex Carignan (0-2) got the start at Catcher.  Ryan Brooks (1-2, 2 runs scored) and David Robins (0-1) both saw action as well.

On the mound, Michael Sebby (2 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 BB, 2 K), Jonathan Joy (1 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 1 BB, 0 K), and Alex Canul (0.33 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 0 K) each saw action.

Miners off until July 12

The Miners will enjoy two days of rest before playing seven straight days to wrap up the regular season. The Miners get back in action on Wednesday, July 12, in Hopkinsville against the Hoppers. The Miners’ next home game is Friday, July 14, against the Henderson Flash.

The Hoppers (17-13) and Miners (15-18) are set to face each other four times in the last week of the regular season, with the Miners trailing the Hoppers by 3.5 games in the standings.
