Miners Win In Owensboro 6-5

The Miners scored all six of their runs in the 8th inning last night in Owensboro and then held on in the 9th to defeat the Oilers 6-5.

The Oilers jumped out to an early 3-0 lead with one run in the 1st inning and two more runs in the 4th inning.  Madisonville erupted for six in the 8th inning as Cory Finkler, Connor Moss, Brooks Benson, and Tyler Greiner all collected RBIs.  Carlton Peppers, Addison Rospert, Greiner, Matt Walsh, Finkler, and Moss each scored a run for the Miners in the 8th.  The Oilers fought back with two runs in the bottom of the 9th inning before the Miners finally closed the door for the win.

Colin Hudson picked up the Win for the Miners, and Matthew Peacock collected the Save.  Starter Yancey Pritchett pitched five complete innings and got a No Decision.  Owensboro hurler Ryan Flores took the Loss for the Oilers.

Madisonville scored six runs on only four hits and committed four errors.  Owensboro scored five runs on nine hits with only one error.

The win moves Madisonville (5-5) into sole possession of third place in the OVL standings, while Owensboro (4-7) drops their sixth game in a row.

Madisonville hosts the Hoptown Hoppers (4-6) on Saturday night at the friendly confines of Elmer Kelley.  Owensboro travels to Fulton (6-5) to take on the Railroaders.  League leading Dubois County (8-4) gets the night off.
