Hoppers Down Miners 10-4 Sunday Night; Playoff Picture

The Hoptown Hoppers clinched the OVL West division championship with a 10-4 win over the Miners on Sunday night at Elmer Kelley Stadium.

Playoff Standings and Bracket

The win moved the Hoppers to 22-15 on the season and guaranteed Hoptown a #1 seed in the upcoming OVL Post-Season Playoffs. Madisonville dropped to 17-21 overall and back into a #4 seed with two games remaining in the regular season.

In the OVL East division, the Dubois County Bombers (27-10) clinched the OVL East crown last week and secured the other #1 playoff seed.

Remaining Regular Season Games

Madisonville hosts the Paducah Chiefs (17-20) on Monday night and winds up the regular season at home on Tuesday night against the Hoppers. Both games have playoff implications, with the bottom three teams in the OVL East within 1/2-game of one another.

Miners Hold On To Win in Hoptown 11-10

The Miners scored five runs in the top of the first inning and held on from there for the 11-10 victory over the Hoppers in Hopkinsville on Saturday night. The complete box score and game summary is available here: July 15 – Miners 11, Hoppers 10

The Madisonville win, coupled with a loss by the Paducah Chiefs, moved the Miners into the third place in the OVL West standings with three regular season games remaining. The Miners (17-20) trail second place Fulton (17-19) by just 1/2 game. The Chiefs (16-20) sit in the fourth spot in the division, 1/2 game behind the Miners. Hoptown sits in first place, four games ahead of Fulton.

The Miners wind up the regular season with a three game home stand beginning Sunday night against the Hoppers. Monday night the Paducah Chiefs visit Elmer Kelley, and the Miners then host the Hoppers again on Tuesday night to close of the regular season.

Miners Split Series with Flash, End Skid

Thursday, July 13: Miners Lose in Henderson 14-6

The Miners lost their sixth straight game with a 14-6 loss in Henderson on Thursday night. The loss dropped the Miners (15-20) into fourth place in the OVL West standings.

Friday, July 14: Miners Hang On for 17-15 Win

The Miners and Flash hooked back up on Friday night at Elmer Kelley, with the Miners holding off a late flurry from the Flash to earn a 17-15 victory. The win snapped the Miners’ six-game losing streak.

Miners Travel to Hoptown Saturday Night

The Miners (16-20) head back to Hoptown Saturday to face off against the Hoppers (21-14). Austin Henrich is scheduled to make his final regular season start on the mound for Madisonville. The game will get underway at 7:05pm CT at Hopkinsville High School.

Miners Fall 12-6 in Hoptown Wednesday Night

Hoppers 12, Miners 6 in Hoptown

The loss dropped to Madisonville to 15-19 on the season, with just six regular season games remaining. Hopkinsville (19-13) extended their lead in the OVL West over second-place Paducah (15-17) to four games.

Dubois County continues to widen their lead in the OVL East with a 25-7 record overall and a 10.5 game lead over second place Owensboro (15-18).

Miners Travel to Henderson Thursday Night

The Miners make their final trip of the regular season to see the Flash Thursday night. The Flash (14-19) are in third place in the OVL East division, 11.5 games behind Dubois County in the division standings.

The games gets underway at 7:05pm at BT Wayne Field at the Henderson County High School in Henderson.

Miners Back In Action Tonight in Hopkinsville

The Miners (15-18) get back on the diamond tonight in Hopkinsville against the OVL West leading Hoppers (18-13). The game at 7:05pm at Hopkinsville High School.

Trailing the Hoppers by four games with seven games remaining in the regular season, the Miners hope to cut into the Hoppers’ division lead. The Miners and Hoppers will face off four times in the final week of the regular season:
